Ben Stokes is out of action for three months

On social media, Stokes commented on the matter, saying, “One hurdle crossed—so let’s get started! I still have a lot to give, more blood, sweat, and tears to shed for my team and this jersey. That’s precisely why I’ve permanently inked a phoenix on my body.”

Ben Stokes is out of action for three months. The England Test captain sustained a left hamstring injury during the New Zealand tour, which has sidelined him for at least three months, according to the team management.

The 33-year-old all-rounder has already been ruled out of the Champions Trophy squad set to take place in Pakistan next year.

Due to this new injury, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed in a statement that Stokes will undergo surgery in January. Further tests will provide a complete understanding of the extent of the injury.

Last week, Stokes suffered the injury while bowling in the third Test against New Zealand in Hamilton. As a result, he couldn’t come out to bat in the second innings. England lost the match by 423 runs, although they won the three-match series 2-1. Previously, in August, Stokes missed the home series against Sri Lanka and the first Test against Pakistan due to a hamstring injury on the same leg.

England’s next Test match will be at home against Zimbabwe in May next year. Following that, a five-match Test series against India is scheduled to begin in June.
