The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was concerned about the Tigers’ tour to Pakistan due to recent tensions. However, according to cricket-based news outlet Cricbuzz, the BCB has received the green signal from the government.
Informing Cricbuzz that the country’s highest policy-making level has given principled approval for the tour, a BCB official said, “We have received the green signal from the government. Although we have not yet received the official letter, we hope to get it very soon. As far as I know, the government has made a policy-level decision that we can go on the Pakistan tour.”
The BCB official further added, “Once we receive the official letter, we will begin discussions with the players. We have learned that a few players are somewhat reluctant to go, citing security concerns. However, we want to ensure that no one will be forced to go.”
Earlier, the BCB stated that government clearance was needed before the Pakistan tour, and a final decision would be made after consulting the players.
PCB Publishes New Schedule for the Tour
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sent the new schedule for the tour to the BCB on May 13. Previously, the series was supposed to be held from May 25 to June 3. However, since the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final is scheduled on the same day, the schedule was revised.
According to the new schedule:
The first three T20 matches will be held in Faisalabad:
May 27, May 29, and June 1
The last two matches will be held in Lahore:
June 3 and June 5
Before the Pakistan tour, the Bangladesh team is currently in the United Arab Emirates. They will play two T20 matches against host UAE in Sharjah—on May 17 and May 19.
