After defeating Pakistan in the second Test, Bangladesh has moved into the top four of the ICC World Test Championship points table. Meanwhile, Pakistan, trapped in a cycle of defeats, is positioned at 8th in the 9-team points table.
Above Bangladesh in the table are India, Australia, and New Zealand—the three finalists in the history of the World Test Championship. So far, Bangladesh has played 6 matches in the third cycle of the World Test Championship, winning 3 of them. The Tigers have a points percentage of 45.83%, which would have been 50% if they hadn’t lost points due to slow over-rates.
At the top of the points table is India, the two-time consecutive finalists. Kohli and Rohit’s team, with 6 wins out of 9 matches, have a points percentage of 68.52%. Current champions Australia have played 12 matches, winning 8, with a points percentage of 62.50%. Like Bangladesh, New Zealand, champions of the first cycle, have 3 wins out of 6 matches, placing them third in the table with a 50% points percentage.
Despite having the same 3 wins and 3 losses as Bangladesh, New Zealand is ahead because they haven’t lost any points due to penalties. England, having played 15 matches so far, has won 8, with a points percentage of 45%. They are ranked just below Bangladesh in 5th place.
Additionally, South Africa is in 6th place with a 38.89% points percentage after winning 2 out of 6 matches, while Sri Lanka is in 7th place with 33.33%.
Pakistan, having played 7 matches, has won only 2. Due to penalties, their points percentage has dropped to 19.05%. At the bottom of the table is the West Indies, with a points percentage of 18.52%, having won just 1 out of 9 matches.
As always, the top two teams on the points table will play in the final. The Ultimate Test, or final, will be held at Lord’s from June 11 to 15, 2025.
