Bangladesh is once again set to host the Men’s Asia Cup

After more than a decade, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has secured the rights to organize this tournament. If everything goes as planned, the Tigers will host the 18th edition of Asia’s premier cricket competition.

From 2012 to 2016, Bangladesh hosted three consecutive Asia Cups. However, despite three more editions being held after that, BCB could not serve as the host. Finally, that wait is over.

On Sunday, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the names of the hosts for the next two editions of the Asia Cup. India will host the 2025 Asia Cup, while Bangladesh will host the 2027 Asia Cup.

The 2025 Asia Cup will be held in the T20 format, ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. The 2027 Asia Cup, to be held in Bangladesh, will be in the ODI format, ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Despite the change in format, both editions will feature 13 matches each. In addition to Bangladesh and India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan will also participate in the Asia Cup. Additionally, one associate member country will join each of the two tournaments after passing the qualifying rounds.
