Bangladesh has defeated India to win the Under-19 Asia Cup title for the second consecutive time. In the final, the young Tigers claimed a commanding 59-run victory to retain their crown.
The match, held on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, began with the Bangladesh Under-19 team batting first after losing the toss. However, the team couldn’t post a massive score, getting bowled out for 198 runs with five balls remaining in their innings.
For Bangladesh, opener Jawad Abrar scored 20 runs, while captain Azizul Haque Tamim, coming in at number three, managed 16 runs before getting out. Mohammad Shihab James, batting at number four, played a crucial innings of 40 runs. Rizwan Hossain, coming in at number five, top-scored with 47 runs, while wicketkeeper Farid Hasan added a valuable 37 runs.
In response, India’s Under-19 team was bowled out for 139 runs in 35.2 overs. Bangladesh applied early pressure by taking three wickets for 44 runs. Although Karthikeya, batting at number four, and captain Mohammad Aman, at number five, tried to build a partnership, Bangladesh’s right-arm pacer Iqbal Hossain Emon dismantled their stand by taking two wickets in consecutive deliveries in a single over.
India couldn’t recover from the collapse. After losing seven wickets for just 92 runs, they eventually folded for under 150 runs. For India, Andre Siddharth, batting at number three, scored 20 runs. Karthikeya added 21 runs, captain Aman scored 26, and Hardik Raj contributed 24 runs in the lower order.
For Bangladesh, Iqbal Hossain Emon bowled brilliantly, taking three wickets for 24 runs in his seven overs. Captain Tamim also shone with the ball, claiming three wickets for just eight runs in a 14-ball spell, causing the late collapse. For India, Yuddhajit Guha, Chetan Sharma, and Hardik Raj each picked up two wickets.
