Bangladesh and Pakistan will play the second and final Test of the series in Karachi in an empty stadium.
This was announced in a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday.
The two-match Test series between Bangladesh and Pakistan will begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi. After that, the two teams will face off in the second and final Test in Karachi starting on August 30. Spectators will not have the opportunity to watch the final Test of the series between Bangladesh and Pakistan. As renovation work at Karachi Stadium is still incomplete, spectators will not be allowed to enter the stadium.
Pakistan is set to host the ICC Champions Trophy in February next year. In preparation for that tournament, the PCB has recently started renovation work at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Karachi’s National Stadium.
Most of the work in the galleries is still unfinished. In this situation, allowing spectators into the galleries would be risky. Therefore, the PCB has decided to hold the final Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan in Karachi without spectators. The cricket board of that country has mentioned that it will take more time to fully complete the renovation work.
In the statement, the PCB said, “There is still a lot of renovation work left at Karachi Stadium. Under these circumstances, the safety of the fans is being given the highest priority. Therefore, spectators will not be allowed to enter the stadium to watch the second Test in Karachi.”
