The plan was for Afghanistan to travel to Bangladesh after the upcoming T20 World Cup. However, both boards have agreed to postpone the series. The series will be rescheduled by the Afghanistan Cricket Board at some point in the future.
BCB’s Cricket Operations chief Jalal Yunus has informed that both boards have agreed at some point to play this series. Therefore, a new schedule for this series will be determined.
Alongside ongoing Test cricket, there were talks of Bangladesh playing 12 Tests in the current year. However, due to the series being postponed against Afghanistan’s opposition, only 8 Tests will be played in Bangladesh this year.
Although the number of Tests is fewer, it will still be a busy time for Bangladesh cricketers this year. Following the World Cup, Bangladesh will tour Pakistan, then play two Tests and three T20Is against Sri Lanka on home Ground.
Next, Bangladesh will host South Africa for a visit. And towards the end of the year, in November-December, Bangladesh will tour the West Indies to play two Tests, three ODIs, and two T20Is.
