Australia to Tour Sri Lanka Before Champions Trophy

Australia will tour Sri Lanka in January next year. During this tour, they will play two Tests and one ODI. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has finalized the schedule for the series.

As part of the World Test Championship, the two-match Test series between Sri Lanka and Australia will begin on January 29. The second and final Test of the series will start on February 6. Both Tests will be held in Galle.

Australia last toured Sri Lanka for a Test series in June-July 2022, where the two-match series ended in a 1-1 draw. Australia won the first Test by 10 wickets, marking their first Test victory in Sri Lanka since 2011. Sri Lanka, however, leveled the series by winning the second and final Test at the same venue by an innings and 39 runs.

Currently, Australia holds the second position on the World Test Championship points table with 62.50% points from 12 matches. Sri Lanka is in third place with 55.56% points from 9 matches. India tops the table with 62.82% points from 13 matches.

As preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan in February, Australia will play one ODI against Sri Lanka on February 13. The venue for this ODI has yet to be finalized.

Australia last played an ODI in Sri Lanka in June 2022, where Sri Lanka won the five-match series 3-2.
