Angelo Mathews’s “Timed Out” dismissal is the first ever to occur in the recorded history of international cricket. During the match between Bangladesh & Sri Lanka, Mathews failed to prepare to face the first delivery within a 2-minute window, resulting in a “Timed Out” dismissal after Shakib’s appeal. Mathews blamed it on helmet malfunction, but officials rejected the claim, citing his delay in facing the delivery before the incident.
Most Five-wicket hauls in a World Cup event
Mohammed Shami bagged the record for his fantastic bowling spells in the World Cup. The Indian pacer achieved a remarkable feat by securing five-wicket hauls a record-breaking five times in the tournament. In total, the pacer collected 24 wickets in the event.
Highest total in an ODI World Cup Innings
South Africa’s innings of 428 for 5 wickets stands as the highest score ever recorded in the history of the ODI World Cup. The Proteas won the match by 105 runs after limiting Sri Lanka to 326 runs within 44.5 Overs.
Highest runs produced in a single match
The CWC Match between Australia and New Zealand will be in the record book for the most amount of runs produced. In two innings, a total of 771 runs were generated by the participating teams. Australia scored 388, and in response, the Kiwis scored 383 for 9 wickets. Australia won the match by 5 runs.

Pakistan clocked this record by chasing a huge amount of 344 runs against Sri Lanka on October 10th. Thanks to Rizwan & Shafique’s century, Pakistan was able to chase this target with 6 wickets & 8 balls remaining.
The highest runs scored by a single batter
Virat Kohli made this record by scoring 765 runs in the tournament. Kohli forged this record by scoring three centuries and a record-breaking nine fifties in a World Cup event. In the process, he also passed Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries.
Highest number of sixes by a single batter
Rohit Sharma set a new record with 50 sixes in CWC 2023, surpassing the previous record of 49 sixes held by Chris Gayle. Sharma’s strong performance in this tournament includes providing India with strong starts in multiple matches.
