Australia is gearing up to host Pakistan on their home soil, preparing for a competitive series. They have already announced their T20 squad, though there is still uncertainty about who will lead the side.
At the beginning of next month, the Pakistan national cricket team will tour Australia for a series comprising three T20 and three ODI matches.
Pakistan has already named its squad for the series, while Australia initially released their ODI squad and has now also announced a 13-member squad for the T20 series. This squad features several surprising selections.
The regular captain Mitchell Marsh is missing from the team, as well as key players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Josh Hazlewood, and Cameron Green. This lineup will give Australia a fresh look in the series.
Marsh and Head will be on paternity leave, while Green is in rehabilitation. The rest are being rested with the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India in mind.
Similarly, part of the coaching staff will also take a break. Head coach Andrew McDonald, batting coach Michael Di Venuto, and assistant coach Daniel Vettori will be on leave.
On a positive note, three pace bowlers—Xavier Bartlett, Spencer Johnson, and Nathan Ellis—return to the squad after fully recovering from injuries. The three-match series will kick off on November 14 at The Gabba, with the following matches scheduled for November 16 and 18.
Australia Squad: Sean Abbott, Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Fraser McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Matt Short, Marcus Stoinis, and Adam Zampa.
