Even his return to the national team remains uncertain. Before the Champions Trophy, Bangladesh will face the West Indies in their final ODI series. There were speculations about Shakib’s return to the national team during this series, but that didn’t happen either.
The uncertainty surrounding the all-rounder’s participation in the BPL also persists. Nothing definitive has been disclosed about his return to the country.
On Friday, Chattogram Kings’ owner Samir Quader Chowdhury addressed the media.
Speaking about Shakib, he said, “I am getting tired of answering questions about Shakib’s return. Nothing has been officially communicated yet. However, we are hopeful that he will join our team.”
Regarding Shakib’s return, he added, “Shakib hasn’t informed us of anything yet, so we cannot confirm anything. His return will depend on the circumstances. For now, he cannot play for the country.”
Samir further stated, “We will make a decision after consulting everyone. We are considering alternatives for Shakib. Since there will be a shortage of left-arm spinners, we might opt for a local left-arm spinner as a replacement. This situation is causing us some difficulties. However, we hope everything will be resolved soon.”
