Shakib’s Bowling Banned by England

Shakib Al Hasan’s bowling has been banned by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The Bangladeshi all-rounder will no longer be able to bowl in any competitions under the ECB’s jurisdiction.

On Friday, December 13, the ECB confirmed this decision in a statement following the evaluation of his bowling action.

Shakib had traveled to England in September to play a match for Surrey in the County Championship. He performed impressively with the ball in that match against Somerset. However, the umpires reported concerns about his bowling action. Consequently, it was determined that Shakib would need to undergo a bowling action assessment.

Earlier this month, Shakib took the test at Loughborough University. The assessment revealed that his elbow extension exceeded the permissible 15-degree limit during his bowling action.

The ban has been effective since December 10, the day Shakib underwent the assessment. However, he can reapply for a test in the future. Until he successfully clears the reassessment, Shakib will not be allowed to participate in any ECB competitions.
