India not coming to Bangladesh tour; Asia Cup may be postponed

The Indian cricket team was scheduled to tour Bangladesh in August to play three ODIs and three T20 matches. Additionally, the Asia Cup was scheduled for September.

However, due to recent geopolitical tensions and security concerns, both of these important series are now in uncertainty. According to The Times of India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already expressed a negative stance regarding the series against Bangladesh and the hosting of the Asia Cup.

Primarily, the BCCI is planning to organize the remaining 16 matches of the postponed IPL during August and September. As a result, the two major international tournaments scheduled during that time are now under question.

Yesterday, during the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamshala, the stadium floodlights were suddenly turned off. It was later revealed that the game had been halted due to security reasons. At the same time, several attacks were carried out by Pakistan along India’s western border, which are part of the ongoing India-Pakistan military tensions.

Following the incident, fear and unrest spread among the players. Early the next morning, players from both teams left Dharamshala. After this event, there was a dramatic shift in the BCCI’s outlook, and they are now prioritizing the organization of the IPL and the safety of the players.

According to the schedule, the IPL was supposed to conclude in May. After that, the Indian team is set to tour England in June for a five-Test series. The Bangladesh series was to follow, and then the Asia Cup. However, now the BCCI seems more interested in organizing the remaining IPL matches throughout August and September.

According to the Times of India report, after the incident in Dharamshala, the BCCI is giving utmost importance to the security and mental well-being of the players. In this situation, they are not taking a flexible stance regarding the Bangladesh tour or the hosting of the Asia Cup.

Even if the IPL ends before August, The Times of India reports that there is still a high chance that these two international events will be canceled.
