India Back to No. 1 After Defeating Australia!

After suffering a whitewash against New Zealand at home, India had slipped to the second position in the ICC World Test Championship points table. However, following a victory in the Perth Test, India has reclaimed the top spot.

India’s qualification for the World Test Championship final came into doubt after losing three consecutive Tests following back-to-back wins against Bangladesh. However, with the victory in Perth, Team India has kept their hopes alive for the final.

This win marked India’s ninth victory in the current cycle. India’s points percentage has increased from 60% to 61.11%. Meanwhile, Australia’s points percentage has dropped from 62.5% to 57.69%. India now has a slight edge over third-placed Sri Lanka, whose points percentage stands at 55.56%.

To secure a place in the final on their own terms, India must win all four remaining matches of the Border-Gavaskar series. Losing even one Test will bring complex calculations into play. The next India-Australia Test is scheduled to take place in Adelaide on December 6. Both teams will compete in a day-night Test under lights with the pink ball.
