Case Filed Against Virat Kohli

A case has now been filed directly against Virat Kohli in connection with the death of 11 people who were trampled during the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) championship celebration. The case was filed at the Cubbon Park police station by local social activist H.M. Venkatesh.

He alleged that it was because of Kohli that such a large crowd had gathered outside the stadium. He also questioned why the celebration continued even after the news of the stampede had spread.

On Wednesday (June 4), 11 people lost their lives while attending RCB’s IPL victory celebration in Bengaluru. The Cubbon Park police have stated that Venkatesh’s complaint will be examined, and the truth of the allegations will be verified during the investigation process.

However, they clarified that no action is being taken against Kohli at this time.

It has been reported that shortly after the incident, Kohli left for London with his wife Anushka Sharma and their children.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru Police have filed a suo motu FIR against DNA Entertainment, which was responsible for organizing the RCB victory celebration, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Fearing arrest, officials from the Karnataka Cricket Board approached the High Court. During the hearing of that case on Friday, Justice S.R. Krishna Kumar ruled that no strict action can be taken against the Cricket Board until the next hearing.

Furthermore, the judge has prohibited the officials involved in the case from leaving the state without the court’s permission. He also instructed that the Board officials must cooperate with the investigation.

Following the incident, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already suspended Bengaluru’s Police Commissioner and dismissed several top police officials.
