IPL 2025: Axar Patel Named Captain of Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals have appointed Axar Patel as their captain for the upcoming IPL season. The left-handed all-rounder, who has been with the team since 2019, replaces Rishabh Pant as the skipper.
Upon receiving the captaincy, Axar said, “It is a great honor for me to be the captain of Delhi Capitals, and I am deeply grateful to our owners and support staff for their trust in me. During my time with the Capitals, I have grown both as a cricketer and as a person, and I feel prepared and confident to lead this team.”
Regarding the new captain, Delhi Capitals chairman Kiran Kumar Grandhi said, “We are delighted to appoint Axar as the captain of Delhi Capitals. He has been an integral part of the Capitals family since 2019 and embodies the values on which this team is built. This decision reflects his natural progression as a leader.”
In the 2024 season, Axar had captained Delhi in just one match when Rishabh Pant was suspended due to a slow over-rate violation.
