On May 21, Mustafizur Rahman’s team, Delhi, will face Mumbai Indians. Can Mustafiz shine against his former team? There is no alternative but to wait for the answer.
Mustafizur Rahman’s second stint with Delhi could have been better. But “The Fizz” didn’t receive the necessary support from his fellow bowlers. He flew in straight from the UAE and took the field, witnessing Delhi’s collapse as part of the playing XI.
The left-arm pacer gave a solid effort in his first two overs. After Delhi set a 200-run target against Gujarat Titans, he came into the attack during the powerplay. He conceded just six runs in his first over and only seven in his second. However, the “Cutter Master” lost his rhythm in his third over, conceding 11 runs including two boundaries. Still, Delhi actually lost the match elsewhere. Mustafiz conceded only eight runs per over on average—better than any of the other bowlers.
Thangarasu Natarajan, captain Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav all leaked runs freely. Natarajan gave away 49 runs in 3 overs, Kuldeep conceded 37 in 4 overs, and captain Axar went for 35 in 3 overs. In the end, Mustafiz didn’t even get to bowl his final over. He gave away just 24 runs in his 3 overs. In a match lost by 10 wickets, he was undoubtedly Delhi’s best bowler!
On May 21, Mustafiz’s team Delhi will face Mumbai Indians. Can he light up the game against his old team? Only time will tell.
